David and Jen began their journey to parenthood in 2013 after being diagnosed with both male and female factor infertility. Dr. Michael Scheiber at Cincinnati’s Institute for Reproductive Health told them the combination of those issues would make getting pregnant naturally impossible. Ultimately, their only viable option was through InVitro Fertilization (IVF). Like many others faced with the costs of IVF, they didn’t know how they were going to afford treatments. After doing substantial research, they discovered that because Jen’s employer was based in Illinois, IVF was fully covered under her insurance plan. After three rounds of IVF, they were blessed with twins!

Infertility is a very emotional process that can often lead patients to feel isolated. In addition to the emotional roller coaster, there is also the financial aspect of infertility. Fortunately, because David and Jen had insurance coverage for their IVF treatments, the financial aspect of infertility was eliminated.  But, as they went through the IVF process, they met many couples that not only had to overcome the emotional rollercoaster, but the financial burden as well.

Since their twins were born, David and Jen have been looking for ways to give back. They first began by donating their two remaining embryos from their IVF cycles to a couple in Florida that could not have their own children. That couple became pregnant with one child and is due in the summer of 2016. Despite the success of the embryo adoption, David and Jen wanted to do more and began to research ways to give back.  They discovered there were very few non-profits dedicated to providing financial assistance to those battling infertility. In response, they created Parental Hope, Inc.

David earned his undergraduate degree in Business Administration at the University of Kentucky and his law degree at the Salmon P. Chase College of Law at Northern Kentucky University. He is currently an Estate Planning Specialist at Truepoint Wealth Counsel in Blue Ash, OH. Jen earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in media communication from the University of Pittsburgh. She is Assistant Vice President, Client Relations, at ServiceLink, a premier national provider of transaction services to the mortgage and finance industries.

David and Jen are lifelong residents of the Greater Cincinnati area and currently reside in Anderson Township with their young twins, Violet and Logan.
